Association Croquet

Association croquet is the established form of Croquet in most of the world, and the laws developed in the UK, Australia and New Zealand form the basis of the present international laws.

As compared with Golf Croquet, the continuation shots awarded after running a hoop and after the strikers ball hits another ball (a roquet) allow the possibility of extended breaks of up to 12 hoops. This in turn means that the out-player is no longer on the lawn, so that social interaction happen after, rather than during, the game.

For those very new to the game, the additional factors involved in the croquet stroke can slow down their development. Once grasped, however, there is a fascination in the game which can be addictive. For the beginner the handicapping system alleviates much of the difficulty of developing skills quickly, whilst regular tournament play usually results in increasing skill, and thus, decreasing handicap

A detailed synopsis of the game is given here via the Croquet Association.
